Learning Outcomes

This course will model a student-centered approach where learners feel safe to take risks and share and develop a sense of belonging with one another. It will be scaffolded to the needs of PK-12 educators (early years, elementary, middle and high school students - as the strategies differ for each group) and will provide choices and autonomy to participants to promote agency.

During the course, participants will:

  • Build theoretical knowledge of the key research findings in the area of learners’ motivation

  • Reconnect aspirations and  access their internal sources of efficacy

  • Reflect on their beliefs and identity

  • Practice and iterate their learning ecosystem designs to include all learners, scaffold learning and release students’ agency

  • Use self-awareness tools (such as journaling and coaching tools) to deepen their practice and find the internal resourcefulness to continue their learning journey beyond the four weeks

Course Description

Every human being wants to belong, to feel successful and to be in control of their own actions. In this course, we will discover how we can co-construct learning ecosystems that attend to our basic psychological needs and that promote both wellness and deep learning. The material we will explore is research-based and practical. Our ultimate outcome is to intentionally create the optimal conditions for our learners to thrive and to support teachers' sense of efficacy and autonomy in the process. We will examine the main research findings around intrinsic motivation and share practical strategies and tools to apply the concepts to the context of PK-12 schools and classrooms. Some examples include: how to build relationships with our learners, how to scaffold learning and, how to design assessments that promote autonomy without compromising rigor. Every week will have a special focus with a group video conference at the end of each core module. At the end of the course, each participant can book an optional complementary coaching session with the instructor within the next three months to further support participants' individual needs and aspirations.

Who is this course for?

The course is scaffolded to the needs of PK-12 educators and other school stakeholders such as: Board members, Leadership team members, and Family members (parents and even Secondary school students). While teachers are the most important and most valuable resources in schools, when other stakeholders bring in their perspective, the collective learning is enriched and the impact amplified.

Join us! Limited to 15 participants.

The 4 Week course starts on Sunday November 1, ends on Sunday November 29. Course registration closes Saturday October 31,2020

When I joined this course, I wished more educators from my context took the course. When I completed this course, I wished ALL educators in the world took this course! First attending to the heart, then exercising the mind and finally engaging the will power, this course mirrors progressive co-constructing of a healthy learning ecosystem in such a rewarding way that any educator would enjoy and benefit from. Fanny is such a resourceful instructor, warm, approachable and very professional. Having a scholar approach and demonstrating wittiness, she shows up as very knowledgeable and is respected by all course participants. I am so happy and honored to have worked with her. Her coursework is like a comprehensive rich portfolio of everything that a progressive and holistic educator would ever need. A number of examples, prompts, templates, examples to reflect on, theory-based conceptual frameworks, models, stems, very effective compare & contrast infographics, references, videos, links to outside resources and much much more! If you are a courageous educator who is all about growth and empowering their students, you are taking this course with the next cohort! Good luck!
